I’m a software developer, who plays lots of video games in his spare time. Most of the time on PC, but recently also on PS3 and iPhone. A few months ago I decided to combine my professional career with my hobby and try my hand at game developing. This idea sat at the back of my head for many years, but only recently the market changed in ways, which made it possible for small teams or even individuals. I mean indie games market boom, digital distribution channels and gaming on mobile platforms. World of Goo, Angry Birds, Trainyard, you name it. You don’t have to invest millions of dollars and years of time to make a living of games developing anymore. Which is great.
This blog is a developer’s diary on my first game, called Infinity Dungeon. It will be an old school RPG with some innovative elements. It will be released on the iPhone platform initially. There is also an iPad and finally Android version planned. I’m going to blog about things I’ll research, find out and learn in the process of making the game, publish some art, screenshots or even trailers.
This is also going to be a place to take criticism, comments and suggestions, which can alter and shape the final outcome of my work. So, if you don’t like something or would like to see some new and cool feature, post a comment. I cannot promise I’ll be able to take them all into account – I have to work in some time constraints after all. But I can at least promise to answer.
